Chocolate Syrup

My Mom used to make this and keep it on hand. It's a great all purpose chocolate fix for on ice cream, waffles, cut up bananas, you name it, it can have chocolate on it :) This is also good for cold chocolate milk or hot chocolate, or I have drizzled it on steamed milk for espresso too. I use a recycled glass jar to keep it in the fridge. It's nice to jazz up desserts with chocolatey yumminess.

Last night we had this on vanilla ice cream with a brownie. Yum!

Cheap chocolate syrup recipe:

1 cup cocoa powder (generic tastes just fine)

1 1/2 c sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 c water

Bring to a boil and simmer, stirring constantly for five minutes. It will thicken as it cools. Store in a jar in the fridge. Try not to eat directly from jar.

Since there are no children in my house anymore, I always forget to keep chocolate syrup on hand, but I have all of these ingredients on hand all the time...Thank you! Now I can have chocolate syrup whenever I want...

Delicious! I just made some myself the other day. Hubby likes nothing better than chocolate syrup on vanilla ice cream. Mmm...

Yummo! Thanks for sharing--I often times run out of chocolate syrup and forget to pick up more. This will be perfect, I always have those ingredients on hand! And, there is no HFCS in this one.

In response to the comment you left on my MPM post: I'm hoping and crossing my fingers that with me having all his meals ready and planned out for him, that he won't go out to KFC and blow $40. That isn't to say that he won't, though. And the part about convincing him--I didn't give him the option. :)I know that is terrible...
