Inspiration

Lately I have been into scrapbooking and card making. I was kind of late to this craft fad but all of a sudden it hit me how fun and simple it is. Also addictive I must admit, I never used to look twice at all of those letter stickers and embellishments, now, suddenly I can't get enough. Right now we are working on making my son's Valentine cards. Fortunately, I am still frugal and I look for sales and clearance. I found a bunch of summer scrapbooking items on clearance which I will put to good use with the summer pics.

I have also been sewing a bit. I made a simple cape for my son who needed a superhero costume for school. I had some freecycled red suiting material, twill tape and a thrifted pattern that I bought with rare foresight. It was a fun project which reminded me that my sewing skills don't have to be perfect for things like that to be fun and satisfying. My son played with the cape endlessly and is very proud of it. It helps that the bottom is scalloped, like bat wings. Now, I think my next project will be these reuseable snack bags! What a fantastic idea. I know that I can find those materials cheaply. Imagine not having to buy anymore sandwich bags for the lunch sac. Too cool.

Good Food Box

I've got the winter blahs. You know, when you just want to sleep and eat carbs and nothing holds your attention? Yeah, I've got it bad. As we speak, (in our bloggish type of one-way conversation, that is) I am burning my tongue on a melted chocolate burning hot spoon. I know that sentence doesn't make sense but you get the drift. Usually I can formulate a thought when I write, or at least summon enough energy to correct myself when I can't, but, alas, not today. My photo of muffins is recycled, I did not bake them today, they are only a figment of the imagination now. They do look good don't they? Mmmm. Muffins. I did make peanut bull balls dipped in burning hot melted chocolate though, and never fear, my Good Food Box arrived today. Just in time, I must say. Maybe I will even sneak in a vegetable or two. Here's hoping!

Happy New Year

Welcome to 2011. This year I will probably shift the focus of the blog. As you may have noticed, this used to be a blog about frugality, which I still intend to explore, however, there are many other subjects that interest me and limiting myself to just one area is proving to be a bit stifling for me. If I wish to be creative then I must go where inspiration takes me. Exploring the perfoming arts has been a wonderful experience for me. I had so much fun and learned a great deal about acting, singing, dance and performance. I met many wonderful people and had so much fun. I suppose it is time for me to get back to the serious side of life, work and all, but hopefully I can find a way to balance my creativity with work so that life is full and meaningful. Here is to a happy and prosperous New Year.
